The Original Rollin’ Kruisers Car Club, Inc. is an organization consisting of people from all over the Chicagoland area who have a passion for cars, whether they are classics, street rods, modified cars, antiques, vintage trucks, or just that something special you like to show. To quote the club by-laws, “The Original Rollin’ Kruisers Car Club, Inc. exists to serve as a medium of exchange of ideas, information and parts for admirers and owners of classic, vintage and show vehicles, to assist them in restoring, preserving and modifying their vehicles or to aid people in locating a car they are interested in….” The club will endeavor to organize and promote activities that enhance the ownership and appreciation of such vehicles.
To accomplish this, The Original Rollin’ Kruisers Car Club, Inc. organizes seasonal cruise nights: every Tuesday night at Fuddrucker’s, on Lemont Road about 1 block north of 75th Street in Downers Grove from 6pm-9pm from May 15th to September 11th. There is a DJ, 50/50 raffle, door prizes, Fuddrucker’s food giveaways and much more.
Our second cruise night takes place on the last Saturday of May, June, July, August and September from 6pm to 9pm in the parking lot just north of the Burger King restaurant located on State Street approximately 1 block south of 127th in Lemont, IL. Featured cars nights: May 26th: Fords; June 30th: GM’s; July 28th: Mopars; August 25th: Trucks &
Specialty Cars; September 29th: Charity Show. There will also be music, 50/50 raffles, door prizes.
Cruise nights take place only if it’s weather permitting.
The Car Club also stresses a social aspect, putting together a free club picnic in late summer, a Christmas dinner, and a variety of get-togethers such as forming caravans to cruise to other cruise nights and car shows which gets us a lot of attention as we cruise in formation! In the past years groups of Club members cruised down old Route 66 to Odell, IL where they visited a restored gas station containing much memorabilia from the old days, and we also stopped at the Polka-Dot drive-in restaurant on the way back home to enjoy the 50’s atmosphere and take lots of great pictures. Another past outing included a cruise up to the Volo Auto Museum. Our club also gets invited to several special events as an “attraction”, one event being the Route 66 Kickoff for their museum in Joliet IL where the club members were escorted into Joliet via police. What a sight!
When you join the Original Rollin’ Kruisers Car Club, you will receive a quarterly newsletter full of interesting articles, a membership card and a club T-shirt. The Club also offers various apparel such as red polo shirts with a checkered flag collar and sleeves and the club name embroidered on the front side, along with black satin club jackets with the Club logo embroidered in color on the back. We also offer Club decals and other items such as baseball caps with logo, “drag plates” and travel mugs with the club logo on them.
The most important thing is keeping members and their families involved and interested in everything we have to offer. It’s a great feeling to see people come together, make new acquaintances, and enjoy all the activities. And the club is striving to make this a “happening” club, thanks to dedicated Board members and Club members. Won’t you be a part of a wonderful “family” called the Original Rollin’ Kruisers Car Club? Welcome!
